In Koha::Object[s]->prefetch_whitelist, there is a call to the koha_object[s]_class DBIC resultset class. We should not, otherwise those 2 methods will have to be defined all the time, even when we can guess it easily.
Koha::Item <> Schema::Result::Item => standard
Koha::Acquisition::Order <> Schema::Result::Aqorder => non-standard
sub _get_object_class {
my ( $type ) = @_;

This patch fixes an issue when editing items.
* The issue
Cannot blank a subfield when editing an item.
If you have an item with itemcallnumber=42, then edit it, blank it and
save. The itemcallnumber is still 42
* Why? (line numbers from https://gitlab.com/joubu/Koha/-/tree/bug_23463)
additem (and other item's edition forms) receives a list of tags,
subfields and values, generates a MARC::Record::XML then calls
ModItemFromMarc:
717 my $itemtosave=MARC::Record::new_from_xml($xml, 'UTF-8');
727 my $newitem = ModItemFromMarc($itemtosave, $biblionumber,
$itemnumber);
And ModItemFromMarc:
282 my $item = TransformMarcToKoha( $localitemmarc,
$frameworkcode, 'items' );
283 $item->{cn_source} = delete $item->{'items.cn_source'}; #
Because of C4::Biblio::_disambiguate
284 $item_object->set($item);
ModItemFromMarc never knows that the field has been blank.
Prior to bug 23463 we had a map of default values, and ModItemFromMarc
was doing:
426 my $item = TransformMarcToKoha( $localitemmarc,
$frameworkcode, 'items' );
427 my $default_values = _build_default_values_for_mod_marc();
428 foreach my $item_field ( keys %$default_values ) {
429 $item->{$item_field} = $default_values->{$item_field}
430 unless exists $item->{$item_field};
431 }
I do not want to reinsert that list of default values.
Here I wrote a generic method in Koha::Object to set the value passed in parameter,
or "blank" if not passed.
It's nulled if can be set to null in DB, or the default value is retrieved from
the schema info.

For discussion, this patch revert the changes made previously.
This line exists in Koha::Item->store as it is the translation of:
if (exists $item->{'timestamp'}) {
delete $item->{'timestamp'};
}
that was coming from _do_column_fixes_for_mod (called from ModItem)
To preserve existing behavior I would be in favor of keeping it like that to
avoid regression, and deal with it separately if we want to improve/remove it.
So basically here we are setting it to undef in Koha::Item->store to make it
handle correctly by the parent Koha::Object->store. I agree that's kind of weird
and must be improved.

This patch adds a way to tell to_api an attribute needs to be calculated
as the count on an existing method/relationship result. For example, if
we wanted to include the holds_count attribute for a Koha::Patron
object, we would call it:
$ patron_json = $patron->to_api({ embed => { holds_count => { is_count => 1 } } });
This way to_api will internally call

Example:

With strict SQL modes, we are facing several issues when objects are stored.
The following errors can be raised by DBIx::Class when an object does not have
a valid (as defined at DB level) value:
- Incorrect integer value: '' for column COLUMN
- Incorrect decimal value: '' for column COLUMN
- Column 'COLUMN' cannot be null
- Field 'COLUMN' doesn't have a default value
- Incorrect date value: '' for column 'COLUMN'
We already handled some of them for Koha::Patron. As we do not want to provide such
changes for all Koha::* modules we are going to fix this at Koha::Object->store level
in order to provide a global fix.
This is related to bug 21599 (for item types) and bug 21596 (for patrons)
Test plan:

In order to refactor our legacy code step-by-step, we will need to
provide code with the exact same behaviors and then improve it.
The same idea appears for the TT syntax for notices: we will want to
deprecate the existing syntax in order to support only one syntax.
Currently we fetch all the values from the related tables, without
knowing which are actually used.
I am suggestion to introduce a Koha::Object->unblessed_all_relateds
method which will return a hash containing all the fields from the
related tables (with the problems we know: collision in column names).
It is the existing behavior of GetOverduesForPatron and GetPendingIssues
for instance, they are used to send notices and so we have to provide
all the data needed.

Bug 17927 fixes data types on the current REST endpoints. If you
test those endpoints, you will notice trying to access them (for listing
or retrieving single objects yields a data type error. Notably on
booleans but also on integers.
Integers fail due to https://rt.cpan.org/Ticket/Display.html?id=119904
but it needs some global solution until there's a DBD::mysql release
backported to the supported distros. There's the option to use
http://search.cpan.org/~frew/DBIx-Class-Helpers-2.033002/lib/DBIx/Class/Helper/Row/NumifyGet.pm
to get the integer columns fixed as a workaround:
__PACKAGE__->add_columns(
borrowernumber => {
data_type => 'integer',
is_nullable => 0,
is_numeric => 1,
}
);
I didn't find bug reports related to this (maybe because we don't use
warnings everywhere) But I don't think is worth going such a heavy
overhead.
A similar situation takes place for Boolean values. They need to be
prepared for JSON output. This could have been done using DBIx filters
as pointed out by Martin:
__PACKAGE__->filter_column(
lost => {
filter_to_storage => sub { $_[1] ? 1 : 0 },
filter_from_storage =>
sub { $_[1] ? Mojo::JSON->true :
Mojo::JSON->false }
}
);
but this could have other consequences that are worth exploring on
another bug (i.e. it would mean we need to take care of every place
where this boolean data is used/set needs to handle this data types
nicely. Such would be the case if we were a Mojo-only app, but we
aren't. We use Koha::Obect(s) in the whole app. Period.
This patch adds the need to specify on the schema files, columns that
are actually boolean, because we have no way to detect them for now
(i.e. they are all tinyint, but we use tinyint for non-boolean stuff
too).
So if this patch is accepted, we would need to specify boolean columns
like this:
__PACKAGE__->add_columns(
'+lost' => {
is_boolean => 1
}
);
This patch adds a TO_JSON method for Koha::Object(s) to be used for
serializing Koha::Object-derived objects into JSON strings.
To test it (as Koha::Object(s) need to be instantiated) I provide tests
on top of the Koha::Patron(s) classes in the followup patches.
[1] Yes, we use TINYINT(1) for booleans, but from DBIC's perspective
there's no way to read the (1) in runtime.

Note: serials-recieve.tt is just history. Bonus points for the one who makes
us get rid of that column recievedlist.

We need this new method to refresh an object after it has been updated.
Test plan:
prove t/db_dependent/Koha/Object.t
should return green

This patch makes Koha::Object raise exceptions in the following
situations:
- When a non existent accessor is called
- When a non existent property is tried to be updated using ->set
On implementing this change, we introduce Koha::Exceptions::Object class
to contain all Koha::Object-specific exception definitions.
Unit tests for this change are introduced in
t/db_dependent/Koha/Objects.t
To test:
- Apply the patches on master
- Run:
$ prove t/db_dependent/Koha/Objects.t
=> SUCCESS: Tests return green
- Sign off
Note: A followup introduces the dependency for Try::Tiny. It needs to be
present for running the tests.

Recently we face the same issue on different modules after we moved them to the
Koha namespace using Koha::Object of using DBIx::Class directly.
1/ Koha::Patron::Modification on bug 16960 comment 14 and 15
2/ Koha::Patron::Category from bug 17069
3/ C4::Members::AddMember (which does not use Koha::Object) on bug 16917
If a DB column is defined as NOT NULL and has a default value, the DBIx::Class
$rs->update_or_insert method won't use the default value if the column name
has been passed to the constructor.
We do that almost everywhere as we retrieve the data from the HTML forms without
checking/cleaning them.
There are several ways to fix that:
1/ Continue to fix them case by case (what we did for the recent issues)
2/ Try to fix them globally (existing ones and the next ones)
This patch propose a global solution to avoid future issues of this kind.
The idea is not to pass the undefined values which cannot be nullable to the
DBIx::Class constructor.
Tested all patches together. Works as expected.
