For some reasons, with Search::Elasticsearch 8.0 JSON::true is
interpreted as 1 and Elasticsearch will always respond that it found "at
least 1 record". Something like this:
{
total => {
value => 1,
relation => 'gte'
}
}
Replacing JSON::true by \1 works with every version of
Search::Elasticsearch I tested (6.80, 7.717, 8.0)
Also worth noting:
Search::Elasticsearch will stop being supported by Elastic

This patch strips the blank facets from the ES aggregations, this seems
to only affect language fields currently, but could affect any facetable field
that can contain blank values
To test:
1 - Have Koha running Elasticsearch with standard test data,
or add some records with blank values in the 008/35-37
2 - Search for 'a'
3 - Look at the language facets, they should appear normal
4 - Browse to:
http://localhost:8081/cgi-bin/koha/catalogue/search.pl?idx=&q=a&sort_by=relevance_dsc&count=20&limit=ln:
5 - Note there is now an 'x' under the Languages facet - to remove a limit you cannot see
6 - Apply patch
7 - Reload
8 - Note the x is not there
9 - Inspect HTML, confirm no blank link under language facets

In C4::AuthoritiesMarc::merge, we search all biblio records using an authority with Koha::Authorities->linked_biblionumbers().
This method uses simple_search_compat() with no results limit, even saying in comment :
44d6528b56/Koha/Authorities.pm (L80)
With Zebra searchengin it is correct.
But not with Elasticsearch, there is an hardcoded limit at 100 in case no limit is given :
44d6528b56/Koha/SearchEngine/Elasticsearch/Search.pm (L346)
This means authorities links are wrong after a merge or an edit in case the authority is used in more than 100 biblio records.
:(
I propose to fix by using by default the real server max given by Koha::SearchEngine::Elasticsearch::Search::max_result_window().
This will allow a huge limit nearly impossible to reach.
See Bug 30882 to how increase this limit.
Test plan :
1) Use Elasticsearch search engine
2) Use an authority id=111 linked to 200 biblio records
3) Perform a search 'an:111', you get 200 results
4) Create a new authority id=222 linked to 2 biblio records
5) Perform a search 'an:222', you get 2 results
6) Perform a merge of the two authorties, keeping id=222
7) Perform a search 'an:111'
without patch you get 100 results
with patch you get no results
8) Perform a search 'an:222'
without patch you get 102 results
with patch you get 202 results

On bug 17591 we discovered that there was something weird going on with
the way we export and use subroutines/modules.
This patch tries to standardize our EXPORT to use EXPORT_OK only.
That way we will need to explicitely define the subroutine we want to
use from a module.
This patch is a squashed version of:
Bug 17600: After export.pl
Bug 17600: After perlimport
Bug 17600: Manual changes
Bug 17600: Other manual changes after second perlimports run
Bug 17600: Fix tests
And a lot of other manual changes.
export.pl is a dirty script that can be found on bug 17600.
"perlimport" is:
git clone https://github.com/oalders/App-perlimports.git
cd App-perlimports/
cpanm --installdeps .
export PERL5LIB="$PERL5LIB:/kohadevbox/koha/App-perlimports/lib"
find . \( -name "*.pl" -o -name "*.pm" \) -exec perl App-perlimports/script/perlimports --inplace-edit --no-preserve-unused --filename {} \;
The ideas of this patch are to:
* use EXPORT_OK instead of EXPORT
* perltidy the EXPORT_OK list
* remove '&' before the subroutine names
* remove some uneeded use statements
* explicitely import the subroutines we need within the controllers or
modules
Note that the private subroutines (starting with _) should not be
exported (and not used from outside of the module except from tests).
EXPORT vs EXPORT_OK (from
https://www.thegeekstuff.com/2010/06/perl-exporter-examples/)
"""
Export allows to export the functions and variables of modules to user’s namespace using the standard import method. This way, we don’t need to create the objects for the modules to access it’s members.
@EXPORT and @EXPORT_OK are the two main variables used during export operation.
@EXPORT contains list of symbols (subroutines and variables) of the module to be exported into the caller namespace.
@EXPORT_OK does export of symbols on demand basis.
"""
If this patch caused a conflict with a patch you wrote prior to its
push:
* Make sure you are not reintroducing a "use" statement that has been
removed
* "$subroutine" is not exported by the C4::$MODULE module
means that you need to add the subroutine to the @EXPORT_OK list
* Bareword "$subroutine" not allowed while "strict subs"
means that you didn't imported the subroutine from the module:
- use $MODULE qw( $subroutine list );
You can also use the fully qualified namespace: C4::$MODULE::$subroutine

This patch removes the constraint of only passing 5 facets to the template unless the list is expanded, in fact, it removes the 'expanded' attribute from Search.pm
Now that all facets are passed to page it adds a 'show more' link at the bottom of lists and allows user to expand or collapse any facet set without reloading page.
Updated tests included.
To test:
1 - Perform an OPAC search that returns more than 5 of any given facet type
2 - Click the "Show more" link on the facets and see that the search is reloaded
3 - Apply patch
4 - Repeat search
5 - Note that you can click "Show more" without reloading page
6 - Test that page load is not greatly affected
7 - Ensure that all facet links function normally
8 - Ensure that facets are the same a prior to patch
9 - Repeat for staff client
10 - Prove t/Search.t
NOTE: This patch makes it much easier to see that there is an existing issue with marking the "active" facet. Ending punctuation seems to confuse the matcher.

This patch allows you to use the "qualifier,qualifier" syntax
in the Record Matching Rules "Search Index" when using the QueryParser.
While QueryParser doesn't support this syntax, it will now fallback
correctly to non-QueryParser functionality. Without the patch, your search
will just fail silently.
This patch also adds a "skip_normalize" option to C4::Search::SimpleSearch(),
and uses the option during C4::Matcher::get_matches. This prevents
the s/:/=/g and s/=/:/g normalization. This normalization is heavy-handed,
and while it is necessary sometimes to generate a valid CCL query or
QueryParser query, C4::Matcher::get_matches() already produces a valid
CCL query, so we don't need to do this normalization.
Additionally, this normalization causes problems when you use a
Zebra register which isn't normalized: namely the "u" register.
Strings are stored "as is", so http://localhost/koha/resource/1 is
stored as is during indexing. When you search, you need to pass
the exact same thing through the query to get a match. Using
http=//localhost/koha/resource/1 in your query will yield zero results.
_TEST PLAN_
0) Apply patch
1) Create a Record Matching Rule in Koha with the following details:
Matching rule code: TEST
Description: Test
Match threshold: 100
Record type: Bibliographic
Match point 1:
Search index: id-other,st-urx
Score: 100
Tag: 024
Subfields: a
Normalization rule: None
2) Create a record in Koha with an indexable URI
2a) Default framework
2b) 024 $a http://koha-community.org/test $2 uri
2c) 040 $c test
2d) 245 $a This is a test record
2e) 942 $c Books
2f) Save (save again if cautioned about missing fields as these should autofill)
3) Do a full re-index of Zebra
4) Download your record from Koha as a .mrc file (ie isomarc, binary marc, etc)
5) Go to "Stage MARC records for import"
5a) Upload your .marc file.
5b) Change your "Record matching rule" to "Test"
5c) Click Stage for import
9) It should say "1 records with at least one match in catalog per matching rule "Test".

This patch makes the 'Locations' facet work as expected (i.e. having the
same behaviour it has for Zebra: picking the 952$c in MARC21 and 995e
for UNIMARC).
It also adds the code to handle holding and home library settings for
facets and makes the facets show the library name instead of the branch
code.
The mappings are updated so the labels match what facets.inc expect to
work properly.
To test:
- On master, do a search that returns biblios with items having
homebranch set.
=> FAIL: Under the 'Locations' label on the facets you will notice
branchcodes are shown.

homebranch => HomeLibrary
holdingbranch => HoldingLibrary

curl -XGET localhost:9200/koha_biblios/data/_search?pretty -d '{
"aggregations": {
"my_agg": {
"terms": {
"field": "subject__facet"
}
}
}
}'
4. Run the included tests:
perl t/db_dependent/Koha_Elasticsearch_Indexer.t
perl t/db_dependent/Koha_Elasticsearch.t
perl t/db_dependent/Koha_SearchEngine_Elasticsearch_Search.t
Have fun with your new ES 5.1 cluster!

-Changed deprecated facets to aggregations
-Fixed boolean datatypes not allowing analyzers to be specified
-Fixed deprecated '_id' to 'es_id'. Now the ES-index has the correct id==biblionumber
ZE TEST PLAN
1. Reset Zebra index since facets are hard coded to dynamic search_marc_mappings.
2. perl misc/search_tools/rebuild_elastic_search.pl
3. Fetch all indexed records and the facet for subject__facet
curl -XGET localhost:9200/koha_biblios/data/_search?pretty -d '{
"aggregations": {
"my_agg": {
"terms": {
"field": "subject__facet"
}
}
}

There is a bug in Koha::SearchEngine::Elasticsearc::Search->json2marc, it
assumes that the MARC::Field constructor always takes >= 5 parameters.
This assumption is wrong for control fields, to create a control field you
need to call the constructor with:
MARC::Field->new($tag, $value);
Note that I got "Too much data for control field" in the _warning value of my
MARC::Field because too many parameters were passed, and the value was undef.
That broke the result search links (on the staff interface) for DB with
biblio.biblionumber mapped with 001.
Other bugs will certainly be fixed by this patch.
For instance I got:
GetMarcBiblio called with undefined biblionumber at /home/koha/src/opac/opac-search.pl line 664.
GetCOinSBiblio called with undefined record at /home/koha/src/opac/opac-search.pl line 665.
in my logs, with this patch I don't get them anymore.
Test plan:
You can try to recreate the different issues and confirm than this patch
fixes them.
Or just run the tests

By default ES returns the facet terms ordered by most used, which makes
sense.
This patch removes resort done in the scripts (catalogue/search.pl and
opac/opac-search.pl) and moves it to the module.
For Zebra it's now done in C4::Search::getRecords, and there is no
change to expect (still alphabetically).
On the Elastic search side, we could imagine to let the library define
the order of the facets. The facet terms are now sorted by most used.
To test easily this change, turn on the displayFacetCount pref.
